Early morning dec.20.
couldn't sleep. me cause i felt like i had already slept for like 12 hours, and mom cause she was cold and has a hip that aches when its cold. Now though, she is off at the heated fancy coffee shop that makes italian grade espresso, so i'm sure she is all blissed out by now. We stumbled across it yesterday in the dark, at 6am when we went out looking for the Taj Mahal. It was totally by accident and spontaneous, but what a jewel. To find coffee like that, that early in the morning, and the cafe is heated, and with comfy couches, so on these silly cold mornings, there is somewhere to go to get warmth and caffeine. We have about had it up to here with cold weather. Sure makes you thankful for all the fireplaces and central heating we have in canada, not that you could survive without them there. but anyhow.
we've awoken both mornings to the sounds of the morning conch being blown (in the Hindu tradition) and to the sounds of the Muslim call to prayer, which i love... it is like... so haunting and beautiful, it soothes the soul. soon it will be daylight.
