NO luck with hotmail today so blaaaaah on you, hotmail. blogspot is working so much better. So, we get a blog instead of an email (too bad i can't blog my hotel to arrange our airport pick up in 2 days... hahhaha) When we arrive in Goa. Just starting to make more reservations instead of leaving things up to chance. they always work out when you leave them up to chance, but there is a certain peace of mind that comes with planning in advance. Haven't had any major screw ups yet, travel-wise (did i just jinx us there? maybe i better knock on some wood now).
Ok, so we saw the taj mahal today. .... WOW! that was something else. what a place. what a love. We were impressed. We went at sunrise which is supposed to be one of the best times to view it. Then we visited Agra fort, which is where the Mughal empire was run from. The palace of all the Mughal era emperors. wow again. what a place. So we are all touristed out. Been all over by bicycle rickshaw... missing the peace and relative quiet of Rishikesh a little, but doing alright otherwise. Now we are in India. Travellin'. mother, daughter, on the road.... in India. we are adjusting to each new thing fairly smoothly.
Today I had a real treat, there is an actual coffee shop here next to the Taj Mahal, with ACTUAL espresso, and creamy, like honey, the way it is supposed to be, so i just had a shot of espresso poured over vanilla icecream, one of my favourite treats. These little luxuries. We've been roughing it for so long. I mean i love chai, and its funny, because when you are in canada, and a good espresso is not so far away or difficult to procur, then you crave a good indian chai, a REAL indian chai, and then when you are in india and its chai, chai, chai, then you crave a properly pulled espresso. I am certain that we (i mean, ME) are waaaay too obsessed with indulgences and savoury experiences (or sweet ones).
We have one day to kill before we leave Agra and head to Goa. i know i think i keep saying that, but i am so excited, and believe me, mom is ready to hit some warm weather. it'd be nice for a change not to have to sleep with your socks on, your long johns and pants, hoody and toque on for a change. ya... that'll be real nice.
so we fly down there on the 21st, then i guess it is only 3 days til christmas. hmmm. well, i guess that is all to report for now....
much love to all of you,
ang

Oh the Taj Mahal... So did you think more of Shah Jhan and Merhinunssia... having read the book? Could you imagine the silk gossamar curtains floating around, the open courtyard, the womens zeena?? The peacocks strutting around, the ladies peeking through the marble lattice windows....
Oh I LOVE the Taj Mahal.
Have a great day, safe flight down to GOA, enjoy the sunshine for all of us. Got some snow last night... 6 more sleeps till the big guy comes!! Love you!!
